Ceylon Healthy Aging & Longevity Medicine Alliance (CHALMA)

25% of the world's population lives in South Asia with little preparation for the challenges associated with rapidly aging societies
South Asians have a high burden of chronic conditions that are related to aging - including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia as well as frailty and sarcopenia
About 18% of Sri Lanka's population is 65 years or older - the highest proportion of older adults in South Asia
Dedicated plans and efforts for healthy aging are urgently needed
Why does Sri Lanka and South Asia need healthy aging initiatives?
